Trio date and BRÅK Festive Special

A lovely couple of mid-December gigs coming up. On Friday 13th December it’s the return of my trio with Otto Willberg and Tullis Rennie, this time at Hundred Years Gallery:And then the next night, Saturday 14th December, it’s the last BRÅK of 2019 at waterintobeer! With a host of Yuletide guests….

Come one, come all, to hear some improvised music this festive season…

Two nice gigs this week

Quick post about two nice gigs coming up this week, both of which have lovely flyers.

On Tuesday 1st October I’m playing a trio set with Steve Noble and Otto Willberg at SET, Dalston. Otto has organised this gig and there’s a duo of Yoni Silver and Sharon Gal on the other side of the bill…should be an excellent evening.

Then on Saturday 5th October I’m playing at another SET space, this time their project space in Lewisham. I’ll be in duo with Charlotte Keeffe, as part of the first ever edition of the s10c series, organised by Sam Andreae and Mio Ebisu. Two other sets full of lovely people at this gig, plus an exhibition of Mio’s paintings, and food!

Sloth Racket DISMANTLE YOURSELF September tour and album

Sloth Racket is hitting the road this Autumn and releasing a new album! After a huge amount of work and multiple grant applications, I’m incredibly happy to announce this run of nine live dates around the UK. Touring is where we can really get into the music, and I can’t wait to get stuck in. I love playing with this band! Check the flyer below for all the dates, and you can find all the info about venues, who will be sharing the bill with us, how you can buy tickets and everything else tour-related at slothracket.co.uk/tour.

The new album ‘Dismantle Yourself’ will be available to pre-order from Luminous on 12th August, and is released on 2nd September. I’ll post here when pre-orders are up too.

See you somewhere out there in September! The tour is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

Antwerp with Tullis Rennie and Dirk Serries!

In August I’m heading to Belgium to play at Sound In Motion’s Summer Bummer Festival 2019 in Antwerp! The festival have put together a trio of me, Dirk Serries and Tullis Rennie. A first meeting in this lineup, so it should be a really nice set. The rest of the day looks great too…you can read more about the festival on the Sound In Motion website.

Trio set at 3×3

A nice gig coming up this week: I’ve been invited by Matt Atkins to play at his night 3×3. Matt puts together three trios for each gig, and I’ll be playing with Sebastian Sterkowicz and Christopher Hill. It’s happening on Tuesday 2nd July at Arch 1…

Ripsaw Catfish tour!

New tour, new flyer! I’m pretty pleased with this one, which is a digital mash-up of Angela Guyton‘s awesome Catfish logo design and some hand-written/drawn text by me.

Anyway, it’s been a while since Anton Hunter and I – aka Ripsaw Catfish – have been on tour, but it’s happening this June. We’re playing four dates in the North of England and London. If you’re in the vicinity of any of the gigs, come out and hear us. Our second album Namazu, which apparently came out two years ago (!) on Raw Tonk Records, will be on the merch table too. Onward, Catfish!

Trio resurfaces!

This Wednesday 15th May, I’m playing in a trio with Tullis Rennie and Otto Willberg at SET in Dalston. It’s the second gig for this group, which originally got together last year for a gig at Liz Exell’s Jazz Herstory series at Poplar Union. I’m looking forward to playing together again! Otto and I collaborateid on this nice photo flyer (?!) for the occasion…

Quartet gig at Hundred Years Gallery

A nice gig coming up: on Saturday 11th May I’m playing in a quartet with Charlotte Keeffe, Benedict Taylor and Alex Ward at Hundred Years Gallery. This group will be a visiting ensemble at City University the week before, playing for a workshop with the composition students, so this concert will be a nice opportunity to make music together in a live setting. Timings and more about the musicians are on the Hundred Years Gallery website. Quite pleased with my flyer for this one!
